Designing thoughtful, equitable, and human-centered learning across early childhood through secondary classrooms.
Learning doesn’t happen in isolation, and it doesn’t happen by accident. Across Pre-K through 12 settings, I’ve designed and facilitated learning that honors learner identity, supports purposeful engagement, and builds toward both skill and meaning.
Whether working in early childhood leadership in Abuja or designing routines and pacing for classrooms here in the States, my focus has always been on relevant, reflective, and human-centered learning environments. This page highlights how that work looked in practice and how it shaped the way I think about learning design today.
EARLY CHILDHOOD & PRE-K LEADERSHIP
Pre-K Leadership — American International School of Abuja
Pre-K & Early Childhood Department Head
Serving as the first expatriate Head of the Early Childhood Department in Abuja, Nigeria was one of the most formative chapters of my career. I partnered with early childhood teams to design learning experiences that were developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and deeply human.
In that role, I collaborated with teachers to craft an environment where children’s curiosity led the learning, where play held purpose, and where language, identity, and exploration were integrated into daily experiences. This work taught me that the earliest years of learning demand both structure and generosity — and it shapes how I design learning across all ages today.
K–12 LEARNING DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Whether in early childhood settings or upper grade classrooms, my approach to K–12 learning design centers a few consistent commitments:
-
Learner-Centered Design — Uncovering what learners bring and using that as the starting point for meaningful engagement
-
Purposeful Structure — Designing with intention so every activity connects to a larger learning arc
-
Equity & Access — Creating learning that honors identity, context, and diverse ways of engaging
-
Reflection & Transfer — Embedding opportunities for students to make meaning and apply learning beyond the moment
In all cases, I design with an eye toward clarity, coherence, and human trust — the same principles I carry into adult learning and organizational consulting.
