What People Say
I have observed that Marla is willing to take on new challenges in order to impart a love of learning and create an excellent classroom environment. Her instructional methods are creative and student centered. Marla and I have worked closely to develop appropriate instructional strategies to meet the needs of a diverse group of students.
She contributed immensely to our school by providing a Christ-loving environment and where communication is the key. As a model of appropriate behavior, she is in a league of her own as she provides extra instructional support based on individual student assessments. Every aspect of her teaching is innovative to say the least; instruction, assessment, interaction, communication, documentation, administration, and classroom management are just some of her areas of expertise as far as teaching is concerned.
I am confident that she would contribute effectively in any atmosphere that she’s part of.

Marla was able to meet the needs of a very diverse group of learners. Her instructional strategies were founded on a literacy-rich environment that emphasized the importance of the four components of learning a language (reading, writing, listening and speaking.) A snapshot of her classroom was of children engaged in a variety of activities that included many instructional best practices. She often used music to accompany her unique teaching style.
She was a friendly colleague, who easily built strong and lasting relationships with her
students, parents and colleagues. She contributed above and beyond her classroom duties by participating over the years in additional committees and coaching.
Marla was a pleasure to work with and observe grow professionally.

Ms. Hunter has excellent instructional skills, a keen awareness of how students learn and a desire to see students excel. Teaching appears to be a natural for her and she is not selfish in the dedication of after work time to enrich and engage students in learning.
She volunteered to accept numerous assignments and responsibilities without additional remuneration. Both parents and students expressed their appreciation and high regard for this dedicated teacher and professional.

I remember making a book about birds. You taught me about the noises they make and how to make them. I am glad that you would spend time with me at school and not at school.
Shilo R. – former Grade 1 student
Ms. Marla, you are great in building relationships with students and parents as no better relationship could have been sort. The most memorable part of the year for my child is when he started getting his letters and numbers correct. Thank you for subtly pushing those that need a push to strive to do their best.

Warmth, love, patience and discipline – is all that it takes to win hearts. We sincerely miss you Ms Marla – the love that shone in my kids eye when i talked about you, the fact that she was always excited to be in school – while still being in awe of you – says it all for me! You rock!

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Ms. Hunter and taking her PD on “How to Become an International Educator”, and she has been an inspiration to me as a teacher. I admire how Marla’s engaging style of teaching, captures her students’ attention and motivates them to enjoy learning to the point they are not aware they are learning. Marla engages her students through creative and engaging lessons, so students take responsibility for their own learning, extend lessons themselves, and begin to generate questions about new subjects.
Her students are excited to come to school and are eager to discover what Ms. Hunter has in store for them. The students take charge of their learning and they become self-directed in the classroom, so that she is allowed to become the facilitator and the students are responsible stakeholders their own education. Ms. Hunter has inspired me to become a more culturally diverse teacher, in that she has encouraged me to enhance my teaching style so, my students are now inquiring about various cultures, asking to do research on specific regions of the world, and are motivated to learn.

Marla Hunter is a real teacher who teaches from her heart, soul and experiences. She teaches the same way she lives her life. She makes a plan and follows it. If things change, she goes with the flow until it leads her back to the plan. She is a true lifelong learner and she is so lovable it’s ridiculous!!!

I have been knowing Marla Hunter since my daughter was in Kindergarten. She has been a joy to have around my family and even adopted my child as her God daughter. I am thankful that she was able to teach my first three kids and took them under her wing as if they were hers. Because of the way she teaches and the love she has for education any child she comes across is destined for nothing but greatness.
Her dedication to learning and being that second parent to every child she comes across is why I am still till this day so grateful to have her in our lives. She doesn’t know it but even though she is 1000’s of miles away the kids are still using her daily learning tactics to get through some hard times. She instills in every child that they can become whatever they want to be but to never take education for granted. The school systems change every year, but Marla Hunter has always remained the same no matter what. From education to swim lessons there is a lot she is destined to teach our kids, and parents!
